Happy New Year: This will help jump start your year! Part 1
WOW, i can’t believe 2018 is already here, when 2017 was just yesterday. It have blown my mind how the year went by so fast. We speed through the days, weeks, months and season like it wasn’t even full of times, days and nights, weekends, holidays, birthdays, etc and all the life events that occurred along the way. Looking back so much happened even though it felt like it went by so fast, like a strong wind blowing and dust been filled with so much particles. The wind correlates; with how fast the year went by and the dust filled with so much particles; have to do with the activities, the birthdays, anniversaries, parties, jobs, relationships, family events, church activities the list goes on.
Before the new year starts it puts things into prospective for us, it helps most of us realize how a whole year is gone and now we yet have an opportunity to start another year. This fresh new prospective causes us to think forward, dream big, re-strategize, replan, regroup and leads to us setting resolutions. We look back and analyze our lives pointing out some problem areas, or need for improvement and come up a plan for change and improvements. We then either think about it in our minds, which lead to either writing it down or taking steps in that direction.
For some of us we recognize problem area and see room for improvement in our physical body, for some of us ; it have to do with our emotional state of mind, for others the change is needed in our spiritual walk with the Lord, others in their businesses, in our marriages, our relationships etc.
This awakening causes us to spend money on resources, commit to certain plans and just push our self beyond the limit in order for that change that we crave and need to occur.
The drive and motivation in the beginning is very strong and then as time goes on we find ourselves loosing momentum and we loose interest and while some of us put up a fight and fight a good fight till the end, some of us end up quitting.
In the part years I was apart of the group that wrote new years resolution and go so pumped in the new year about it, because it’s exciting and enticing to have a new beginning. Whenever we feel the sense of second chance or a new beginning; it give this amazing thrill and excitement that causes us to do so many things.
Few years ago, I stoped writing new years resolution not because i don’t think they are inspiring and motivational. My reason was simply because I came to the realization that; I do not need to wait for a new year to make a change, to start a new habit, to dream, to change an area in my life and move forward.
I thought why not start a new habit every time during the year, learn something new at anytime, and just work on my self at anytime during the days, weeks, months and during the year.
Why wait for the new year to start something new like, dive into a new career, get rid of toxic relationships, forgive, heal, loose weight, invent, travel etc? You know; you have all year long to experience change in every aspect of your life, not just the beginning of the year( January 1st)!
Am sorry to bring this to your attention but life is too short, some of us do not make it to the end of the year so why wait! Things happen all the time so please “Stop waiting”!!
The scripture that comes to mind here is :
Matthew 7:24–27The Message (MSG)
24–25 “These words I speak to you are not incidental additions to your life, homeowner improvements to your standard of living. They are foundational words, words to build a life on. If you work these words into your life, you are like a smart carpenter who built his house on solid rock. Rain poured down, the river flooded, a tornado hit — but nothing moved that house. It was fixed to the rock.
26–27 “But if you just use my words in Bible studies and don’t work them into your life, you are like a stupid carpenter who built his house on the sandy beach. When a storm rolled in and the waves came up, it collapsed like a house of cards.”
This scripture have so much wisdom and speaks life about what I have just shared but the part that sticks out to me mostly is : 26 to 27. Do not just use “my words in the bible studies”( temporary, when you decide the occasion is right ) and if you “ don’t work them into your life”( making it a continue walk and lifestyle) basically if you just try to make changes when you see fit and not commit to a lifestyle of change your are likely like a stupid carpenter who builds his house on a sandy beach.
Friend, lets commit to a lifestyle of change, not temporary flickering changes. You have been empowered and you have the ability to get things right now, as well as in the spring, or summer, or fall and in the winter and in every season. Stop holding yourself back waiting for the new years to start a new resolution! Let God lead you on when and how to go about things and stop limiting God to doing things in your life during the new years. You have a bigger God then that! This why your plans always fail and you end up been ten times behind then you were when you started.
As always, am praying for you all, remain blessed . Feel free to share your thoughts!
Look out for part 2 of this writing. I will end here and then continue later. Sending you all the Love!
